The Adjust-A-Strap™ Support is a revolutionary new device for the foot drop condition.
Unlike hard, restrictive braces which lock the foot into one position, the Adjust-A-Strap™™ support promotes a more natural foot motion and makes walking a pleasure again. The tensioning band allows the wearer to customize the level of support with a simple pull.
The Adjust-A-Strap™ Support was designed for everyday use: breathable fabrics and rigid support only where you need it. A consistent fit every time.
The quick-release adjustment buckle permits easy transfer of the Adjust-A-Strap™ Support from shoe to shoe (One extra Shoe Strap included).
Adjust-A-Strap™ Support comes with a 90 day limited warranty from day of purchase. Extra large sizes are also available.
The Adjust-A-Strap™ was presented and demonstrated in June 2006 to the medical staff, including the medical director, of the orthotic division of SADMERC in Columbia, South Carolina. The merits and performance of the Adjust-A-Strap™ Support was favorably accepted and eventually assigned a Medicare billing code.
Shoes with laces, adjustable buckle straps or hook and loop closures work well with Adjust-A-Strap™ Support. If for any reason there is a problem attaching or keeping the tongue strap in place, a show repair shop can stitch the buckle strap to the tongue.
"Since I was two years old I have lived with the effects of polio. I wore a long leg brace as a child. I then had muscle transplants to my right foot as a teenager that eliminated the long leg brace.
In my forties a rigid, conforming brace was prescribed to correct the muscle weakness in my right foot and ankle known as drop foot. I attempted to wear it, but it affected my gait adversely and I stopped wearing it.
As a consequence, I was tripping and falling unless I was very careful not to encounter an uneven surface. As I have grown older my falling became more frequent. My podiatrist prescribed a foot support that was attached to the shoe laces. After wearing it for a short period of time, the laces would loosen and my foot would drop.
Approximately two years ago, I designed a foot support that is not attached to the laces and can be applied to the tongue of any shoe by use of an adhesive hook and loop material. I have been wearing this support continually and have not tripped or fallen since wearing it.
I find it patient-friendly, convenient to apply and comfortable to wear. The unique feature of this support is that it is adjustable. Dorsiflexion support is built into the Adjust-a-Strap and can be altered as conditions change throughout the day."
